Day Treatment Program
Amethyst offers a confidential and free day treatment program to women residing in the Ottawa Region who are dependent on alcohol and/or drugs. The treatment program offered is a two-year outpatient program, allowing women to live at home.
Our treatment approach is holistic and group focused. We assist individual women to take control of their lives as they stop using substances.
Our two-year program consists of:
- Assessment... your first meeting with a treatment counsellor to help you decide if Amethyst is the right choice for you.
- Pre-Treatment... provides you with individual counselling while you detoxify. Once detoxified, you join support groups, which meet weekly
- Ten-day Treatment... an intensive day program which includes group therapy and educational sessions, held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for two consecutive weeks. A maximum of 10 women meet with qualified counsellors.
- Follow-up... follow-up groups act as support groups, and are held several times a week. A separate support group is available to lesbians. Individual counselling is available if you require additional support during that time.
